When the creative powerhouses at Light Brick - along with the iconic narrative publishing house Annapurna - approached us to make a CG trailer for LEGO Voyagers, the team could not have been more excited.

This game, which explores friendship and the power of adventure between two 1x1 anthropomorphic LEGO bricks, really struck our team at the heart and we wasted no time in immediately collaborating with Light Brick on how best to communicate this relationship and sense of wonder in a narrative trailer.

Our approach was to bookend two short CG chapters either side of gameplay to create a narrative prequel to the start of the game. We wanted to communicate wonder, the bonds of childhood, and the possibilities of adventure.

The approach, and Light Bricks’ willingness and openness to collaboration, meant that our team were able to truly explore how set design, lighting, and animation could come together in the most beautiful way possible; and we had a blast with the creative freedom we were allowed.

The client kindly provided gameplay footage, which we were then able to edit, focusing on match-cuts and stop motion effects to best display the sense of momentum and game mechanics.

Animation, like audio, was invaluable in the project due to the relative simplicity of the characters who communicated through only blinks. We worked extremely hard to ensure the animation and SFX were done to the highest possible standard and brought these characters to life.

This trailer was a true highlight for the Big Farmer team, and the response online has been a genuine pleasure to witness. We cannot wait to get cosy on co-op and explore the incredible and stunning world of LEGO Voyagers.
